HISTORY AND PRESENT

NOTE: Depending on their relationship, a character may or may not be readily aware of the following information.

Against odds, an infant ocelot hybrid survived the onset of winter, sound asleep and abandoned in a cushioned basket. He was found by a nekojin couple, Yang Insik and Yang Areum, at a daytime market. Still warm, wrapped up in thick fabric, a handwritten note tucked at his side. The pair read the letter, and being early into their marriage, adopted the kitten without hesitation. Following the written wish, they raised him under the mononym Chiaki (千秋) meaning "a thousand autumns." Roughly three years later, Yang Insoo, the couple's biological son, joined their home.

As a child, Aki was in no way remarkable, but he was well-liked because of his calm and endearing demeanor. He was clumsy and rough for a nekojin, but that could be attributed to his wild nature. If anything about him was exceptional, it was his lucky streak. It was common belief that nekojins were lucky, but in Aki's case, he could actively negotiate with fate, able to speak a desired probability into existence though often at a cost. There are times even his thoughts manifest into reality as long as they are possible, which is why he is careful about being too creative. Throughout the years, he has developed perceptiveness and careful consideration of the things he wanted for himself, allowing him to be individualistic and decisive until the present.

Despite being aware of his sense of independence, his parents were still shocked when 12-year-old Aki wanted to leave home when he turns 13. It was simply unthinkable for the two, even as the boy listed his reasons. They became more protective of him, trying to remedy his "dissatisfactions" by giving him more guidance and attention, but this backfired and only made Aki feel suffocated. The once untroubled boy was burdened by everything: his status, his school life, his sexuality, his parents' domineering presence. The one thing that held him from the door was little Insoo, and although he still continued his plan, he left his brother an apology and special instructions to meet him again in their adulthood if he chose to forgive him.

To Chiaki, fending for himself felt natural. The region's capital, Thornvault, was nothing like Lavendale. As a teenager, he was exposed to the dangers his parents warned about, but the young man survived. He developed many talents and skills, taking on small jobs to afford his necessities while expanding his connections in the city. Eventually, he moved on to other cities to work, though avoiding Mopek's Stonewell altogether, because he knew that was where he would be sold once he reached 18. He would rather not be reminded every day that he would be one day "owned" by a stranger. It was also twisted that after a few years, he might meet Insoo there at the black market even before they could meet on their own.

He breezed through the first three years of his adulthood by having no owner. Being a legal slave did give him more choice, after all, and he was able to avoid being purchased out of impulse. He would never admit it to anyone except his closest friend Ahreum, but he had disdain for the "masters" of their world, and while he had met a few exceptions, he still avoids gaining their attention and forging personal relationships with them. Ironically, this stems from his discontent, for if given the chance, he would choose to be a lord in a heartbeat. To him, it was the ultimate fortune.

Eventually, though, in present day, he has become more open to companionship and friendship with the kind, especially now that he is owned by one. He is still most comfortable with servant races, though, and would befriend them with less caution. Plenty other things have changed ever since. One is that he is way more graceful now than when he was a child. Another is that he is aware that his "luck" is a form of probability manipulation that tips odds to his favor at the cost of others and at times himself at a later time, which explains why misfortune follows when he actively utilizes his power. Because of that, he now uses it less.

OOC NOTE

Hello! Typist here. You can PM Aki's account if you wish to plot! I do have a lot of responsibilities outside the MT community, so I can be very slow when replying to threads, and I usually am able to write paragraphs only on the weekends or when my classes are light. If I take too long, you can give me a nudge. You can also drop our plot if muse is lost or if clearing slots.
